Privacy Policy
Last updated 19 October 2026. This policy covers the Pearl Tech Hub website, pearltechhub.com, including the contact and newsletter forms and the Robotics Explorer. Pearl Schools has its own notice at pearltechhub.com/schools/privacy.html.

What we collect and why

Robotics Explorer and the AI guide
When you ask the guide a question, our server passes the recent messages and your optional first name to Google’s Gemini service to write the reply. We do not store the conversation. To limit misuse we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your network address with the times of your requests for up to two days. If you choose to speak, your browser’s own speech recognition turns your voice into text; depending on your browser, that audio may be processed by the browser’s provider. We never receive or store your audio. Please do not enter personal details into the guide.
Cookies and content from other providers
We use one cookie to remember your answer to the cookie notice. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Some pages load content from other providers: Google Maps on the Contact page and Google Fonts. Those providers receive your IP address and may set their own cookies; see Google’s privacy policy. Links to YouTube, Instagram and TikTok take you to those services, which have their own policies. Our forms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated spam; Cloudflare processes technical signals from your browser for that purpose.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. We use service providers to run the site: our web hosting company, the email service that delivers form messages, Google (Gemini, Maps and Fonts) and Cloudflare. They may only use the information to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. Some of these providers are outside Uganda, so your information may be processed in other countries.
How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept for as long as we need to deal with your enquiry and keep a reasonable record of it, then deleted. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Rate-limit records are deleted within two days. Hosting records are kept by the hosting provider under its own schedule. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and access to form submissions is limited to Pearl Tech Hub staff. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your rights
Under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 you can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent you have given, such as for the newsletter. Email info@pearltechhub.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to the Personal Data Protection Office in Uganda.
Children
This website is not aimed at children, although the Robotics Explorer is shown to visitors of all ages at exhibitions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site; children should ask a parent or teacher before using the contact or newsletter forms.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
